Chairman's news -May 2026

The Parish Council held it's first meeting of the new council year at the end of May, and I was re-elected as Chairman along with Charles Lynch as Vice-Chair.

The meeting was attended by County Councillor, Paul King who agreed to chase DDC regarding the replacement of the Bus Shelter on London Road, and also KCC regarding our proposals to improve the safety of the Alkham Road/London Road junction.

The Parish Council also agreed to try to establish a Speedwatch Group to deal with traffic exceeding 30mph along London Road; Kent Police require us to have a minimum of 6 trained observers and I'm pleased to advise that we now have 5 people, so just require one more before we can start monitoring vehicles.

The Council approved the Governance Statement and Accounts for 2025/26 and these having been confirmed by our Internal Auditor are now in the hands of the National External Auditors for review.

I would like to thank the individuals that put themselves forward to take on the role of Parish Clerk from Andy Howard-Grigg who is shortly to retire. Following interviews with the candidates that took place in mid June, I am pleased to advise that the replacement has been selected, and will take up the role very shortly.
